Songs of the EP reviewed
Like it was before
The first songs is called ‘Like it was before’ and lyrics deal with parting ways in life. Musically it starts with an old school sounding introduction but later and gradually more metal sounding guitars come kicking in. Vocally it’s the traditional style of Sofie, clean singing iterated with screamy vocal delivery.

you sunflower
Then comes ‘you sunflower’, the second song. Of which the text in the screen print “Turn to sun and grow” comes from these lyrics. It’s a positive song. With a heart warming and encouraging message, to stay positive and keep away from negative emotions. And to keep believing in yourself.
Musically a varied song that has lots of ingredients. A silent intro with a whispering female voice, is strengthened by metallic guitars as the music progresses. Then comes the main part. The music mainly supported by the drum is later called to order with heavy guitar strokes. Several guitar licks give the music an distinct character that only Lifecycle can bring.

Sea of love
The final song is a reinterpretation of one of their demo songs. ‘sea of love’ starts with the sound of the waves of the sea, gentle guitar touches create a harmonic atmosphere. The vocals and the heavier guitar parts interrupt the harmony simultaneously. To eventually be blown away with a wall of metallic riffs, pondering drums and screams. After a breakdown a fast mosh part starts accompanied by vocals that go through limb and bone…
The lyrics are dealing with the overwhelming feeling of love. And the unpredictable nature of love as well.
Conclusion
This 2023 record of Lifecycle shows their true nature. And shows that they still have what it takes to deliver even after twenty years of silence.
