After the record deal with Crucial Response and Spirit Of Youth fell through – because their sound didn’t sound Straight-Edge enough according to Peter Hoeren of Crucial Response – Dominiek and Frederik started with Solid in 1994. Under the influence of American Metalcore, like Bloodline and Transcend, the two brothers started creating metal-oriented music, also the cross-over of Machine Head and Stuck Mojo was familiar to them.

Because of the hardship with the traditional record labels, they released the “Blender” demo through Existence Of Hate Records in 1996. The Blender demo is a live demo taken straight from the soundboard of a live performance in late 1995 in Aalbeke, Belgium.

The first singer is a friend of Dominiek. A friend who also introduced Dominiek to American Hardcore. With records from Suicidal Tedencies, V/A New York Hardcore The Way It Is, etc. His name is Giovanni Debruyne (also known as Sid). Later on they recorded the “Sadness Of Mankind” CD in the Midas Studio and it got released through Existence Of Hate and Released Power Productions. With Kris Casier on bass, Dominiek Denolf on guitar, Frederik Denolf on drums and Sid did the vocals.

When the peers that attended the rehearsals heard the music, they were kind of shocked, most of them still played in traditional Old School sounding bands like for instance Resist The Pain. Also for Vincent Mirveille of later Spirit Of Youth the music really hit hard.

The newly created material got recorded and they received word from Tony of Midas Studio that Die Hard Music (a sub division of Nuclear Blast Records) was interested in releasing their music. The label was making things difficult again, they said the voice of Giovanni wasn’t complying with the Death Metal sound they were playing. To meet the label’s demand they attracted Jim from Limburg. They played several shows with Jim as singer and eventually recorded “Darkside Moments” with him.

When Jim stopped, because he went to University, they relied on Vincent. There was a show in Nieuwpoort (Belgium, West-Flanders) where Solid performed with Vincent. Also Edward was present on that show. Soon they noticed that the music they played was too heavy for Vincent’s voice. They adapted during the show and played the song “River” (Spirit Of Youth, Source), that did seem to go well for his voice. All this lead to Dominiek insisting to start with Spirit Of Youth all over again, because “River” was a Spirit Of Youth song…

Frederik agreed and they started with Spirit Of Youth again. Shortly after that the band Spirit Of Youth started to become successful and their glory period began.

After Spirit Of Youth and actually the entire scene faded, the two brothers still hadn’t got enough of it. Solid arose from the ashes with Wulf of Deformity on vocals.

Also other people Dominiek knew from the days came and went. But eventually Ward Spruytte, a true guitar talent, stayed together with Wulf. In this line up they recorded a CD in the Midas Studio, but he did not want to release it. Solid ended once again and Blood Redemption came to being. This band used old Solid songs in the beginning, as well as the titel “Shadowbreed”, who would have been the titel for the Solid CD, was reused for Blood Redemption’s second release… They reunited one last time with Sid, Kris, Frederik and Dominiek for the Total Rush in 2003…
